    Basic Timeline
    Time Immemorial
Salvar: Bands of nomadic hunter-gatherers migrate into Salvar from Berevar and its connections to other continents. They roam the northern expanses of the continent ceaselessly, and cross into the southern half of the continent, settling in small chiefdoms. Some move to the coast and create a nascent fishing and shipping community.

Approx 15473 years ago [MC 1]
United Raiaera: The Elves land in the area known today as Anebrilith, and establish their colony. The first years are easy, due to the planning the elves had and the supplies they had brought in their ship Eledhwe, and they establish a thriving population center after about 500 years. As per Elvish custom when arriving in a new location, a new calendar year begins, designated, "Minya Coronari," or "First Years."

Between 14114 and 14109 years ago [MC 1360-1365]
United Raiaera: Elvish population, as is its tendency, grows to a point and then stops once territory for expansion is exhausted. By MC 1360, the Elves had grown to about the size supportable by the coastal areas in which they had settled originally. Their expansion was halted by the Durklans, men who lived in the Black Desert and along the northern reaches of what was then the Great Forest (it was not until later when it was cursed.)

Although their elves, their expansion ceased, began to enter their cycle of population stability, the men were worried that the Elvish patterns were such as to demand ever-increasing land. In fear of losing their territory, the men attacked without warning, and for what seemed to the Elves no apparant reason.

In these years, almost all of the Elvish lands were overrun by the Durklans. However, during this time (known as the Years of Famine), the Elves spent much of their time studying the old arts of song-magic, and began training their young in the skills remembered only by their oldest members, skills they had brought from their homeland more than a thousand years before.

Approx. 14108 years ago [MC 1366]
United Raiaera: The Elves begin to attack, operating from fast-moving and agile patrols of "Bladesingers," small and mobile fighting forces present in enough numbers to strike in many fronts at once. Tel Aglarim is organized as a shock force to supplement the Bladesingers, and by 1367 the Durklans are no more.

    Approx. 14107 years ago [MC 1367/CE 1]
United Raiaera: The Elves celebrate their victory with a new calender, the "Coronari Estella," or "Years of Hope."

Approx. 13070 years ago [CE 1038]
United Raiaera: During this year, a prominent Elven scholar writes A Country Claimed, asserting the thesis that this year marked the Elves' completion of the dispersal from the shores of Anebrilith to the Mountains of Dusk. Dwarves in the high passes prevent their further expansion, and for a long time the Elves enter a period of population stability.

    Between 12048 and 10048 years ago [c. CE 2060 - c. CE 4020]
Raiaera / Alerar: The War of the Tap Begins. While many documents survive in libraries to provide dating systems for before the beginning of the war, along with a rough estimate of the start of the war, the general upheaval prevented scholarship and meticulous record-keeping during this time period. What we do know of this war, which lasted for nearly two thousand years, was that it consisted of many ups and downs -- the Eternal Tap, the preeminent magical force of the time, provided a great weapon against the Forgotten Ones, but these five magicians were so persistent -- often leaving a hundred years of peace between their main attacks -- that it is deemed unwise to attempt to date this affair. It is during one of the longer periods of peace, however, that we have evidence showing the expulsion of the Alerians, who soon proved themselves as implacable foes of the Forgotten Ones -- and who, when the War of the Tap was ended, always harbored resentment towards the Raiaerans.
Salvar: Salvar remains a primitive and largely unpopulated continent, and therefore a choice battleground for the magical campaigns on all sides of the struggle. Various magical enchantments and weaponry are scattered throughout the continent as part of the destruction, which scatters the natives and leaves an indelible print on their common mythology. Many deserters of the war join the remaining natives in Salvar.

    Approx. 10048 years ago [c. CE 4020/CWD 1]
Raiaera: The High Elves begin a new calendar to celebrate the victory over the Forgotten Ones, the "Coranari a Winyar Dacilea," or "Years of New Victory."

    Between 7,500 and 2,000 years ago [CWD 2,548 – CL 3047]
Salvar: Various lords and rich merchants from the other continents begin to land on Salvar's mountainous southern and eastern shores, founding small trading colonies and resupply ports. Some whaling and seal hunting establishes itself around the continent. The colonies are usually not much more than a few huts or a fortified cove, but one or two good harbors are built up into small settlements, largely populated by male mariners and without any autonomous governing bodies. Ships slowly begin to make it up the western side of Salvar, landing in the much more welcoming shores there and founding a major city at the mouth of the River Salvar (later "The Knife").

These colonies slowly grow in population and prosperity as people migrate into the vast plains, pushing far inland. The natives in the path of the colonizers are pushed ahead of them and into the northern wastes, which are largely ignored for settlement. The plains of Salvar are unforgivingly lonely but fertile, and using the river system around the Knife, a shipping industry is built up that keeps Salvar well off and well fed. No central government exists, however. Each colony has titular ties to the nations on other continents in Althanas but they exist in name only.

Approx. 7000 years ago [3,048 CWD]
Corone: According to most historians, this is the most probable time when the slaver ship Nomad “gave birth” to the Coronians. Around these time the slave trade started to bloom and according to some excavations and ruins, this is the time when the Corone civilization started to arise.

Approx 6000 years ago [CWD 4,048]
Corone: The inscription in the Malani Cave is made by an unknown elven traveler, speaking of the constitution of the barbaric society of the Coronians. It is the first written evidence of life on the island. The inscription speaks of the strict laws that govern the actions of the barbarian clans.

Approx. 5548 years ago [CWD 4500]
Raiaera: From the start of Raiaera, the capital has been located at Anebrilith. However, Elves in Valinatal and along the southwestern reaches of the Red Forest now clamor for a capital that requires less travel time. In response to their requests, plans are announced to build a new Capital, centrally located, and to name it "Raiaera City."

Approx. 5500 years ago [CWD 4,548]
Haidia: The exact origin of the vampires is lost in history, but the oldest living vampires claim that one night, many ages ago two figures emerge from a dark cave and begin their lives.

Approx. 5300 years ago [CWD 4,848]
Haidia: The vampire clans begin to be formed as the small nomadic tribes mentioned earlier. From the first two vampires--they would call themselves Homunus Nocturna (Literally "Children of the Night") there would be spawned several hundred of their children into Haidia. These children would be taught the intricacies of survival using the hunt, and learning how to eat from their pray. The vampires found that they had great skill with regeneration, and were great at survival. Also, they could move quickly with ease and had some connection to the darkness.

The Oldest Vampire records were written by the original two vampires themselves. They were unfathomably powerful. The vampires of today called the two elders "Sara'Khallian-Khan (The Male)" and "Nara'Shakahal" (The Female) and they wrote that either side had traits that the other did not possess. But together--they were powerful.

Their children spread without any real threat for many millenia quickly conquering the wilderness with its bounty.

Approx. 5061 years ago [CWD 4987]
Raiaera: When the Raiaerans first began to relearn their song-spells, there were six schools. The sixth school was Enarlin, and it specialized in creating hate, inspiring fear, and causing terror in the hearts of those who heard its harsh and degrading music. During this year, the High Bards began a movement to ban Enarlin, considering its music too dangerous to allow just anyone to learn.

In a rage, Ereber Ondolindë, the Enar'Linstra, fled to the School of Enarlin. Before the construction of Eluriand was complete, the schools were scattered about Raiaera, and Ereber's was located in the hillcountry, a massive complex larger than the city of Valinatal. From there he fielded an army of Enarlin mages and sympathetic Megilindiri and Tel Aglarim soldiers.

High General of the Haidian Army in Haidia

    Between 5060 and 5055 years ago [CWD 4988 – 4993]
Raiaera: When the High Bard Council votes to oust Enarlin, Ereber attacks. For several years, it appears he will extort from the Bards an agreement, for his Enarlin music succeeds in terrorizing the populace.

Approx. 5054 years ago [CWD 4994]
Raiaera: From the School of Turlin emerges a hero, Atanamir Eluriand, who has mastered the arts of purification. In the process, Atanamir has also learned the secret of nullifying Enarlin magic by using its own melody in harmony with the sounds of Turlin. By blending the two, Atanamir attains such a degree of magical proficiency that he is taken to battle with the Loyalists of Tel Aglarim and the True Megilindari. At multiple battles during this year, he proves crucial in negating the Enarlin influences of Ereber's music, and becomes the preeminent mage in Raiaera's history.

Approx. 5047 years ago [CWD 5001]
Raiaera: After many long years of fighting the Rebellion of Enarlin, both sides are at an impasse. To break it, the High Bards organize a push through the Pass of Trestlin, coming at the school of Enarlin and taking its defenders by surprise. In the battle, Atanamir and Ereber confront one another, and for nearly twenty-four hours the two engage in a fierce battle of song and magical prowess. In the end, both Atanamir and Ereber fall at almost the same time, and before Tel Aglarim or the Megilindiri can fight their way to their hero he is dead.

    Approx. 5046 years ago [CWD 5002 / CL 1]
Raiaera: Even though he fell, Atanamir's slaying of Ereber broke the strength of the Rebellion, and soon all Enarlin bards and sympathizers are rounded up, tried, and executed for treason. The school of Enarlin is viciously wiped out, its music banned to all except the most exceptionally trained in the Turlin arts. A new dating system is proclaimed: the Coronari a Lindale, or "Years of Music." In addition, "Raiaera City," still under construction, is renamed "Eluriand," in honor of the fallen Atanamir.

Approx. 5000 years ago [CL 47]
Haidia: The earliest known records of the Vampire Nation exist. It was clear from the records that the vampires had their origins in Haidia. They are the only sentient race--that is known about--that actually originate from Haidia and they consider themselves to be "Haidia Born". The vampires live in small nomadic tribes within the underground continent and feed off of the huge and tremendous beasts that live in the wilderness of Haidia. The oldest records state that there were originally Five great Vampire Elders that spawned from these eldrich tribes.

Approx. 4120 years ago [CL 927]
Corone: Raiaeran scout, Eraniel the Farseer, writes a report on Corone and its inhabitants. He describes the society as patriarchal and rustic, in the essence comparing it to the one of the wild lions. He also notes that the lack of other traces of these barbaric people is not surprising because they are nomads and change their habitat frequently. Corone is designated as a barbaric land unworthy of further inspection.

Approx. 4005 years ago [CL 1042]
Corone: This is an official date of the first settler’s ship landing on Corone soil. There are notes of ones arriving before this time, but the “King’s Pearl” was the first ship that disembarked under the flag of another realm (Alerar). The following years were marked by the dispute between the settlers and the locals.

Approx. 4000 years ago [CL 1047]
Haidia: The vampires are no longer nomadic tribes and they begin to settle down in various parts of Haidia. Vampire territory is officially marked, and the Elders have taught their children rites called Blood Rituals. Markings were placed upon special parts of the vampire's territory and these markings would warn the vampires of intruders. In this fashion, there were five major towns established by the vampires deep within the wilderness of Haidia. The towns where Ahaka, Merenda, Vhelku, and Vhelka.

Approx. 3800 years ago [CL 1247]
Haidia: Merenda becomes the largest urban center known to the vampire community and is their central hub. The vampires from all other town congregate within Merenda and it is the source of their vast technology and powers.

Approx. 3790 years ago [CL 1257]
Corone: After constant pleas for conversation between the two sides, Chieftain Fannos of the Burning River clan negotiates in the name of the six Corone clans with the settlers in order to stop the constant strife between the two. Aranis Kaledin, half-elf that in the long years of his life visited most of the known lands of Althanas, negotiates for the settlers and peace is achieved.

    Between 3790 and 3200 years ago [CL 1257 – CL 1947]
Corone: The settlers and the locals live in relative peace as their cultures mingle ever so slightly. The outworlders teach the locals the art of written word, construction, wood carving, advanced farming, even essential magic. Coronians still mostly live a nomadic life, roaming the flatlands, although some chose the outworlder’s way of life. Most of them are exiled from their clans for this, but even the chieftains start to see the futility of opposing prosperity.

Approx. 3500 years ago [CL 1547]
Haidia: The vampire population spreads to about 10,000. The Pure Bloods find that they could reproduce quickly within the safety of their own towns and fortified cities. Each town has an established Elder that looks after the city and governs it as he or she sees fit. The towns reflect the twisted culture of the vampires and many of their activities revolve around blood fetishes and sick sadist practices.

    Approx. 3300 [CL 1747]
Haidia: The Elders discover a new power. They find out that they can create powerful Items and Weaponry known only to their civilization. They begin to teach selected students these teachings and the oldest known Eldrich Artifacts come from this time period. By now, a complex caste system is in place and vampire society is deeply aristocratic and full of politics. In a short amount of time, and through the secrets of Blood Magicks they develop a civilization with mathematics, invention, and an organized governmental structure. All though, the Elder of each town is basically Dictator they amass behind the Elder's teachings and rule. The five cities meet from time to time in a secret tribunal to discuss the future of the vampire society.

Approx. 3200 years ago [CL 1947]
Haidia: Some of the Eldest vampires (After the two oldest foretold of this event) begin to develop the capacity to see the future. This gift, the vampires call The Sight and they see invasion and war through nightmarish visions. The earliest recorded prophecies NOT written by the original two elders are recorded by the skilled Seers at about this time. Scholars take history very seriously and record the prophecies as they are dictated. The prophecies speak of the invasion of stout warriors called "Short Mountain People" and other races. The prophecies speak of a future invasion and war caused by a people called "Devils" and their cousins "The Thieves." (Dwarves, Demons, and Deimis respectively) The Elders also had visions about a war that would engulf the entire world and it was called the Demon's War. The Vampires worked quickly to try to stop this event from occurring.

Approx. 3120 years ago [CL 2027]
Corone: Serenti, the first town built by both the settlers and the locals, is completed. It becomes the first official port accepted by the Corone chieftains and a monument to the acceptance of the foreigners in the new land. Corone borders become completely open to the public.

    Between 3120 and 2500 years ago [CL 2027 – CL 2547]
Corone: The inflow of the foreigners grows every year. The landowners arrogate more and more of the flatlands, the elves dwell in the great forest of Concordia and the dwarves start to burrow the Jagged Mountains in the north. Dwarves build Teria, their great capitol, on the banks of the Niema river. Elves build Conileth, a town in the middle of the Concordia forest that is to become Underwood afterwards. Coronians are left with little to none space for their usual nomadic migrations and the unrest in their ranks is growing with every year.

Approx. 3039 years ago [CL 2008]
Raiaera: Eluriand is finally complete. The intense magic and architecture had taken the city over two thousand and five hundred years to complete, but it was worth it. Now, Eluriand is second only to Ettermire in defensibility, and in art and beauty it has no rivals which even approach its grandeur.

High General of the Haidian Army in Haidia

Approx. 3000 years ago [CL 2047]
Haidia: Dwarves discover Haidia, begin to inhabit. Vampire scouts recorded the first sightings of Dwarves and attempted communications with them. When negotiations and diplomacy failed, the vampires understood the Dwarves' purpose in Haidia--invasion. It was in this time of antiquity that the vampires and Dwarves first developed their hatred of one another--and respect. Battles occur from time to time but Dwarves are able to maintain a foot-hold and they can establish territory within Haidia--the vampires are unable to defeat their enemies and must acknowledge that they now live within Haidia.

Approx. 2500 years ago [CL 2547]
Haidia: The Dwarves establish the Great Cave Town dangerously close to the vampire's borders. The vampires see this as an open act of aggression and attack in retaliation to the Dwarves' perceived invasion. The Elders vow to take the town away from the Dwarves. Several small skirmishes occur that weren't historically note-worthy and the two kept each other at bay.

Approx. 2450 years ago [CL 2597]
Corone: The chieftains of the six clans unanimously vote for war that should expel the foreigners from their lands.

    Between 2450 and 2000 years ago [CL 2597 – CL 3047]
Corone: Corone light cavalry conquers the flatlands with ease, but the elves of Concordia and the dwarves in the Jagged Mountains are too fortified, holding their borders sealed. For over four hundred years the borders are red with blood and the three factions are in constant bickering. None dares to break the borders though and march with full power.

Approx. 2000 years ago [CL 3047] [1 DW]
    Althanas: Demon War Begins.

Haidia: The Haidian calender begins, with the beginning of the Demon War as Dlero 1, 1 DW (Demon War).

Salvar: Initially the Demons do not attack in Salvar, but the war cuts off all remaining ties with other nations as trade basically dries up. About halfway through the conflict, a demon army attacked Salvar from the west. A flood of refugees fled to the far interior, huddling in the shadow of the furthest mountains. To combat the Demon Menace, the notables of the largest colonies group together and form government with which to raise an army. The government is an oligarchy under the direction of the important merchants and tradesmen of the Knife’s Edge. The demons are held at bay by this force for several years before shamans from the native population banish the demons by use of powerful, esoteric magic. The demons flee through the northern wood to Berevar and disappear entirely. The remaining government in the south encourages the resettlement of the rest of Salvar.

Corone: The invasion of the Demons occurs. Teria was the first to fall within a single day and the dwarves flee into the passages they burrowed beneath the Jagged Mountains. The demons advance against the rest of the Corone, but the elves and the men unite to form a formidable force. Regardless, only 2 years after the initial invasion the demons are victorious. Aroen the Lightforger and Gerth of the Crying Wolves collide with the Demon army on the Gisela fields and are defeated by the sheer force of their foes. The remnants of the defeated forces seek shelter in the midst of Concordia trees, but the demons set the entire forest on fire. Luckily, the dwarves open their passages in the cliffs of the Comb Mountain and accept the defeated forces in their underground habitat.

    Between 1998 and 1800 years ago [CL 3049 – CL 3247/CP 1] [3 DW – 201 DW]
Corone: The dwarves, elves and men all live in the stone passages beneath the Jagged Mountains. Many die of famine despite the occasional help that comes through the eastern fjords.

    Approx. 1800 years ago [CL 3247/CP 1] [201 DW]
Althanas: Demon War ends and demons are banished to Haidia.

Raiaera: The Secret Society of Elves, the Tel'Quessir, is dispatched to watch Haidia and keep tabs on demonic activity. Haidian Elves are preeminent in the brigades, though for the first time Men are allowed to join: provided they go to Haidia to watch and wait. The Years of Strength begin: the "Coronari Poldora."

Corone: The Demon army is defeated in Alerar and Radasanth comes to the caves bearing the news. He leads all able warriors in a charge from the caves, conquering the razed town of Teria and overthrowing the demon ruling over Corone. After the banishment of the demons, Radasanth is named the first Steward of Corone, the first solitary authority figure in the history of Corone.

Approx. 1799 years ago [CP 2] [202 DW]
Alerar: After making it across the Mountains of Dawn the exhiled elves reach Alerar, which is currently inhabited by the dwarves of Kachuk. The dwarves take the intrusion as an aggressive act and The War of Inference begins.

Approx. 1785 years ago [CP 16] [216 DW]
Alerar: The War of Inference ends. The Treaty of Congruity was signed, the dwarves leaving the flatlands to the elves and moving primarily into the mountains.
Haidia: Vampire scouts moving within Dwarven territory make a startling discovery. The ancient prophecies that foretold of the Demon War begin to come true, and at the borders of Haidia small battles begin to erupt between the vampires and the invading Demon Army. There were some minor victories at first, but the Demon Army plowed forward through the small contingent of vampires that met with the Demon Army upon its first series of invasion.

Approx. 1780 years ago [CP 21] [221 DW]
Salvar: The oligarchy of Salvar is overthrown by a former solder in the anti-demon army. This general, Corin val Neestor, installs himself as dictator and sends military emissaries to the largest settlements to take control of the entire continent. Most of the cities are placed under the control of the military, but a few of the outlying colonies on the south and east coast remain free.

Corone: Teria is rebuilt by elves, dwarves and men and is renamed Radasanth in the name of the hero that liberated the Coronians from the caves.

Approx. 1766 years ago [CP 35] [235 DW]
Salvar: The first ship from the other continents of Althanas lands on Salvar since the Demon War. This resurrects Salvarian trade, but also alerts the rest of Althanas to the independent status of their former colonies.

Approx. 1761 years ago [CP 40] [240 DW]
Salvar: Battleships from the rest of Althanas begin to escort their nations’ ships to and from Salvar, some of them seizing Salvarian ships and impressing their sailors into naval service.

Approx. 1750 years ago [CP 51] [251 DW]
    Haidia: Vainta is formed.

Corone: Steward Radasanth gives up his spot as the ruler of all Corone, returning to his home in Raiaera. He leaves the governing in the hands of Theras Amuranis, a benevolent man that served as his minister for almost twenty years.

Approx. 1745 years ago [CP 56] [256 DW]
Salvar: A small army of mercenaries, bought by a consortium of rich merchants, lands on the west coast of Salvar and seizes control of several colonies, establishing a small kingdom ostensibly under the suzerainty of Corone. The next year, the Dictator of Salvar, the third since the Coup of Year 21, launches an attack on this Kingdom of New Corone, destroying its army and executing its titular king.

Corone: Steward Theras in all his benevolent lenience eventually starts to give in to the countless demands of his ministers and the merchant syndicates and starts to become nothing more then a puppet. An expedition is dispatched to Salvar in order to “establish firmer trading routes”, though in the essence it was an invasion that the Steward couldn’t stop, with the votes of all his ministers against him. The expedition failed miserably and the Salvar locals murdered the so called king of the new kingdom.

Approx. 1741 years ago [CP 60] [260 DW]
Salvar: After hearing of the destruction of their client state, the consortium of Corone merchants raises the issue with the government of Corone, gaining enough leverage with the mildly concerned ruling classes to construct a far larger navy and army with official support, and launch an attack on Salvar. They land on the west coast and march inland, capturing and gaining the defections of others. The Kingdom of New Corone is rebuilt, this time controlled by an official Viceroy from Corone. The Dictator of Salvar fights the invaders to a standstill but is unable to push them to the sea. A peace is forged, with the Kingdom of New Corone essentially taking up the southwestern quarter of the continent and the Dictatorship of Salvar taking up the southeastern quarter. The signing of the peace fragments the Dictator’s control, and he soon only has sway over events in the Knife’s Edge, while the local governors take control of local affairs.

Salvar: The Kingdom of New Corone booms into a military and economic power as it lays large levies on transport down the Knife and carries out raids into the small governates on the outskirts of Salvar. The increase in wealth is felt in the capital, Coronia, at the mouth of the Knife, but is also pronounced in the other settlements, where important merchants and landowners establish themselves in pseudo-governmental positions as “interlocutors” between the Coronian government and the locals.

    Between 1741 and 1253 years ago [CP 60 – CP 548] [260 DW – 748 DW]

Politicking becomes more important then industry, and the gap between the layers of the society grows larger. The army is kept at bay with large paychecks and the constant battle in Salvar. These years are also called the Ages of Decay in Corone.

He moves his court there, but finds himself alienated from the king’s traditional power base, the western seamen and merchants, while mired in the relatively alien eastern duchies, who have little association with the king beyond the fealty oaths that are part of their coronations. Rather than admitting his folly, Mustaga remains in Knife’s Edge for the rest of his woefully long reign. The army would be run by the High General, selected by the people, and would police the nation, protect the people, and control the portals, if they ever reopened. Alerar: Pleased with the progression of the army and confident in his new General's ability to lead, Vordutin decides the time to strike at Raieara is now. The Aleranian Army begins it's march through the Mountains of Dawn, it's main force lead by Thoracis Rakarth.

Raiaera: Findelfin ap Fingolfin arrives in Althanas, around the same time as Devon dan Sabriel begins his own career. They find themselves at the School of Turlin together, and while discussing their plans they decide to send for a friend in Alerar, Kylin Rouge, to request he join them. They send Devon's familiar, Sabriel, with a letter to Kylin, but as Sabriel flies across the Mountains of Dusk she sees the approach of Alerar's Army.

Flying back with all speed, she warns Devon and Findelfin. Devon goes to the High Bards to warn Raiaera's leaders, and Findelfin rides to the schools as the night ends to tell the bards to awake and begin war preparations.

Devon rides to Valinatal to confront Thoracis, having been given a command in Tel Aglarim due to his experience and his eloquence. Findelfin takes a command through the Pass of Trestlin, attempting to come at Thoracis's army from behind and thus entrap him at Valinatal.

War between Alerar and Raieara begins at The Battle of Valinatal. Thoracis is killed by Devon the Starslayer and the battle is lost. Findelfin never makes it, as a rockfall in the mountains forces him to turn back.

Returning to Eluriand, Findelfin finds its few defenders besieged and outnumbered by a massive force of undead. In a brave charge, he brings his force to bear against the Undead, routing them at first. The Turlin bards remaining begin to drive back the undead, and for a time it appears Eluriand will be freed.

However, Xem'Zund launches a counterattack, and although he is later vanquished at the same time Lord Aesphestos of the Forgotten Ones is, by Devon in the very peak of Minas Teradryn, his army remains. Eluriand falls, and that is, well, that.

War between Alerar and Raiaera begins at The Battle of Valinatal. The Aleranian Army was discovered during thier march, however, and met with great resistance. Thoracis is killed by Devon the Starslayer and the battle is lost.

The "Dark One" begins to stir in Alerar. Along with the Necromancer in Raieara, Althanas is facing a dark time. A large battle takes place. (The first Featured Quest) During this battle Vordutin is killed. The Aleranian Army is almost crippled. It is also during this battle that the first of the developmental "airships" Alerar has been trying to produce is sighted.

Haidia: Ziegfried goes through the portal into Althanas, to do the sorcerer's bidding.

    Present [CP 1801] [2001 DW]
Haidia: Banishment of other races ends.
Antioch: An uneasy peace has crossed the land of Antioch. Morian sits in his keep a Liche Necromancer, still plotting to gain more power. The centaurs of Victoria have been corrupted to his will, and Larapool stands to be the only way to stop Morian from entering Althanas as a whole.

Fallien: Jya has called together warriors from across Althanas, in order to go to the southern ruins of Kithdir, in hopes of finding more information about the Vadhya. She also wishes to look into rumors that the Kehtal clan hides there, plotting another assassination attempt.

Salvar: The Entente of the Light, under the banner of ending the Salvarian slave trade and on invented evidence of the collusion of the king with the Forgotten Ones, lands in Salvar and marches to the Knife’s Edge. Power hungry nobles who wish to overthrow both the king and the Council of State join in the Entente’s march. The king, who has been convinced by the duplicitous Nar’oth of the Ozternbergians, Joachim von Ribbentrophen, that the Entente is marching to the Knife’s Edge to help him assert his authority over the continent, does nothing to stop the march. The army reaches the Knife’s Edge, lays brief siege to it, and takes the city. The king is deposed, and Leopold Stevens is made figurehead king in his place. A new ruling council is created out of the nobles who joined the march on the Knife’s Edge, headed by von Ribbentrophen, which holds true executive power in the kingdom. This turn of events causes an upsurge of uncertainty and war in Salvar as various nobles rebel against the new government and others attempt to jockey for power within it. With an unstable government at its head and unrest throughout its lands, Salvar is a continent ripe for the picking…

    Good stuff.

What's next? I believe I have the answer. An Althanas calendar of sorts, some sort of concrete way of saying "X amount of time has passed". Quests and battle will seem to take "weeks" or "months" if we do this, but it honestly needs to be done if we're to add any more history to this timeline. We can't just do something and then be like "oh, this was like three years later, I guess".

It'll be much easier to incorperate some kind of Althanas history when I quest in Alerar/Salvar/whatever, thanks.

I agree with Cyrus. They did that on a fledgling RP site I go to and works well. To avoid some confusion as to when battles/quests take place a member could simply put the Althanas date that the thread is occuring in (ICly) at the top of the post, or if they're confused with the way the system works they could simply ask a mod/admin/head mod (do we still have those anymore?) to edit their posts with the date for them

Please ignore the Salvar stuff on there for now. That's Frank old stuff that doesn't include the edits I made before the crash. I guess they never got added in before we lost everthing. I'm pretty sure that I still have them saved, though, so I'll try to get those up as soon as possible.
"The problem with escapism is that when you read or write a book, society is in the chair with you. You can't escape your history or your culture. So the idea that because fantasy books aren't about the real world, they therefore 'escape,' is ridiculous. Even the most surreal and bizarre fantasy can't help but reverberate around the reader's awareness of their own reality." -- China Miéville
