    Overview of Power Group Rules

Power Groups are a great Althanas feature. They are simple to create, and provided you show a little dedication they can be pathways to glory. This thread will help guide you in the process of group creation, clan raiding, clan treasuries, and Clan Warfare.

    Creating a Group
    Registration Basics:

Anyone can register a Power Group at Althanas, but there a 100 GP charge for doing so. Power Group registration can be posted in the Character/PG Registration forum in the Realm of Greeting with the following information:
    1. The name of the group.
    2. The group’s leader and membership roster.
    3. The group’s in-character location, if any.
    4. The group’s goals and purpose.
    5. A link to the group’s website, if applicable.
    6. Who is helping pay the registration fee, if anyone.
This can be done in any format you desire. Try to make your Power Group's motives as interesting as possible, and keep them original, just like you would that of a character.

After creating your PG, you may conclude registration by taking the following steps:
    1. Access the Power Groups listing and click on the link at the bottom "Create a New Group."
    2. Enter your group's name and a description including its goals and purpose.
    3. Choose a group type. "Public" will allow anyone to enter. This is not recommended. "Moderated" will alert you whenever a member is requesting admittance and allow you to confirm or deny their request. Finally, "Invite Only" will not permit anyone to attempt to join; instead, you must personally invite the individual. Either of the two latter methods are recommended.
You may also create a treasury account according to the rules found in The Gilded Vault.

Once these two steps are complete and your group has been approved, you may proceed with any type of clan activity that you choose.

Please make sure you take note of the rules located in the Realm of Greeting. All Clan Leaders should be aware of these rules.

    The Minstrel's Perch

The Minstrel's Perch is a bustling tavern on the road leading from Gisela, and is the last stop before one must begin the long journey towards Underwood. It is a place for great food and fine fellowship, and is known as the birthplace of one of Althanas's greatest clans. A legendary fight between Devon Starslayer and Findelfin ap Fingolfin within this tavern began, strangely enough, their long friendship, and from that fight sprang the Purifiers. The Purifiers were one of Althanas's earliest clans, were the first to win a clan war, and earned great fame (and many enemies) in their day. Although the Purifiers were later defeated by the Grand Army of Thoracis Rakarth, its beginnings here mean that those wishing to found their clans still find in the Minstrel's Perch an auspicious place to begin.

This area of the PG forum is considered solely in-character for all players, threads within it can be submitted for judging, and players will receive normal EXP and GP for their efforts. Posting in this forum is primarily for members of clans which have not earned an HQ or who do not desire to participate in the rat race to get an HQ, or for independent, non-affiliated characters wishing to interact with clans on their home turf. Posting OOC Recruitment threads is strictly forbidden in the Minstrel's Perch.

    Clan Hostilities

Clan Hostilities are not to be entered into lightly, but they hold the promise of great rewards for those who win. A Clan War costs 1000 GP or 25% of a group's treasury, whichever is greater. The victorious group will receive the right to buy and construct a Headquarters. In addition to the gold, the attacker must be able to field at least three members; the defender can field fewer than three.

Please look up further information on Clan Hostilities in the Clan Hostilities forum. Information on Headquarter Rewards can be found in any of the Power Group Headquarters.

    Total Immunity

If you'd like to be in a PG but don't want to be part of the fighting and the warring -- you don't want to risk your treasury or your PG is simply NOT logical when placed within the competitiveness of the Clan System, you may declare Total Immunity. You will receive your 100 GP registration fee back.

Total Immunity means that you cannot be attacked and you cannot attack another PG. Should you wish to run a storyline that involves some Clan Hostilities with another clan, you may should the other clan agree, but no deposits will be required for the war and the only spoils will be those naturally earned from roleplaying and writing.

Should your Clan decide you'd like to enter the world of inter-Clan intrigue, you may remove your immunity by repaying the 100 GP registration fee. You must also wait one month after ending Total Immunity before declaring war -- although nothing is to stop you from being an ally in a Clan War.

Clans with Total Immunity may NOT own Elite Headquarters and are NOT subject to the normal Clan membership restrictions outlined below.

    PG Treasuries

Power Groups may set up a user account named "<PG name here> Treasury." This account should make a post in the Gilded Vault forum, and clan members may donate to the account simply by posting saying how much they want to deposit. Moderators will peruse the forum occasionally and add GP to the account.

This account is NOT for roleplaying purposes, and may not purchase anything in the Bazaar. ONLY Treasury Accounts may post in the Guild Shop.

Treasury Accounts are not mandated for non-HQ-holding PGs...in the past, we have required minimum balances, but now the only required minimum balance is for HQ-holding PGs, which must maintain 2500 GP in their treasury for each HQ they own.

Please see the Gilded Vault for information on how treasury records are kept.

    PG Shop

Power groups can buy a variety of enhancements to their forums, such as adding guild shops, guild services, or guild moderators.

To read more about the PG Shop and purchase enhancements, please visit the PG Shop forum.

    Membership Restrictions

PGs shall not have more than six key members at any time.

"Key members" is here defined as:

    1) Someone who is permitted to fight for the Clan in Clan Warfare and Hostilities.
    2) Someone who may receive benefits and rewards from the Clan Leader during the dispersal of GP and EXP from monthly Elite HQ rewards.

Clans may use whatever title they like for these members: Masters, Grand Lions, Members, Seneschals, Arched Chimneysweeps of the Fleece Broom -- you get the picture. But there may be no more than six of them. (Clans with HQs may purchase increases to these amounts.)

Furthermore, no character may be in the "key member" classification of more than two clans at any one time.

This does not set a limit on players who wish to be associated or otherwise affiliated with a Clan. A Clan which offers services could have people associated with their Clan who do not necessarily fight for it during warfare, or are perhaps even key members of other clans. To use The Company as an example, The Company's shareholders are associated with The Company and share an affiliation with them, but unless an associate member is ALSO listed among the Kky Members of that organization, they could be key members of another Clan.

Clans may, however, to continue imposing their own restrictions on membership above and beyond these restrictions: for example, if your PG didn't like the House of Sora, you could ban your key members and your associates and affiliates from any sort of interaction or cooperation with House of Sora.

Clan Leaders are required to keep up-to-date records of their six Key Members. Elite HQs must declare their Key Members at the start of every month, and may not replace them until the start of the next month barring exceptional circumstances.

    Rules Disclaimer

The PG Rules are designed with fairness in mind. They were not designed to cope with every situation, and there may even be situations where the rules as-written interfere with the principles of fairness.

Moderators involved in PG arbitration therefore reserve the right to suspend the rules at any time in the interest of fairness, and will always strive to adhere to the spirit of the law even where its letter is off the mark. In the same vein, a constant attempt will be made to discern where the rules as laid out here may be written better. As such, the moderators reserve the right to amend these rules at any time or invent new rules as situations change.
