To the far North of the great Ettermire was a small village, Derenishine, whos’ population lay at two hundred strong and reveled in the protection of their constituent region giving for none daring breach its’ lesser technological entwine of thatched roofs and peaceful exchange of day to day business.

Found, comfortably nestled into the warm hearts and worn cobble stones of the sleeping paths and streets was a young child enjoying the red evening sky that heralded a warm day to come. The air was fresh, crisp and carried the scent of cow pats from the nearby tended fields and a strong permeate of bread wafting from a nearby bakery, temping all like an alluring seductress awaiting her next lustful feed.

Kially was a victim of the enticing fragrance, standing at the window of the bakery looking upon countless cakes, sugary savories and bountiful bread, resulting in him drooling a thin pale stream of saliva down the left side of his white skinned chin and weak pink lips.
How long had it been since he had ate? At least a day or two at best, such defined by a grumbling stomach confirming his lack of sustenance and calling forth for him to invade the bakery to obtain a delicious delicacy of his own.

Kially, dragging himself with much effort from the window, brought his little frame to the door and gave it an excited shove as to barge inside, this however, brought only disappointment and a light throbbing pain through his wrists as the door clunked a refusal of entry, a frown of uncomfortable realisation and awkward assessment of pain in his wrists that now ached. “Oww…” Each hand overlapped the other and light circular motions signified the easing and rubbing away of the immediate pain as the child slumped down against the door in defeat, back pressed against it as he found himself sat without a meal, giving no immediate thought to the fact he had food at reach and infinite disposal.

With a lost venture sinking in and a stomach demanding food, Kially found himself gazing into the evening sky, allowing his ice blue orbs to absorb and immerse himself into the slowly moving clouds of the encroaching winter night.
