Update 11/18/2013 - Major rule change regarding matchups added
Welcome to Althanas leagues, a brand new way to compete against other players. Competitive RP on Althanas is about much more than battles. In this arena, there will be all sorts of leagues to truly test your creative mettle. To begin with, there will be two types of leagues: battle leagues and quest leagues. New leagues will be added from time to time depending on the popularity of the feature. Leagues are rolling, which means you can jump in and participate at any time and still compete for prizes!
Rules and Regulations
Registration
1) To register, simply post the word "Registered" and specify your league type (either "Battle" or "Quest" to begin with) in the League Registration Thread.
2) Once eight (8) characters are registered, a league will be made and divided into two divisions. The next eight (8) registrants will be part of the next league.
3) Players can only have one character per league, but can have as many characters participate as they want in multiple leagues.
Matchups
1) Each league will last one for one (1) season.
2) Seasons will consist of five matchups (three (3) against division foes and two (2) cross division bouts).
3) Cross division bouts are randomly determined.
4)Players will create their own matchup threads in Althanas at large. Where and when you post is up to you.
5) When a matchup is complete, players must submit a normal judgment request and they also need to post in the Matchup Submission Thread
6) Matchups will be judged by the judging staff as they are completed. Two individual sets of scores will be given.
7) Judges can participate too. We'll just have you judge a league you're not involved with.
Scoring
1) Scoring is hockey style: winners receive three (3) points, losers receive one (1) point and incomplete battles receive zero (0) points.
2) Ordinary Althanas rules (ten (10) posts/10,000 words) apply to judgments and rewards.
Seasons & Tournaments
1) The regular season lasts two (2) months. All matchups must be completed by this time.
2) A player can leave the league at anytime. If an opponent withdraws, it will count as a win (three (3) points) for the remaining players.
3) At the end of the regular season there is a short playoff.
4) The top two players in each division (based on points, not wins) will face off against one another for the division crown. This matchup will last two (2) weeks.
5) The winners of the divisions will face off for the league crown. This matchup will also be two (2) weeks.
6) Every six (6) months there will be a seasonal champions series where the league champions will face off for the ultimate price: League Champion. Rules for these mini-tournaments will be posted just prior to the series.
Rewards
1) Division winner receives an additional 2500 EXP; Second place receives an additional 1000 EXP.
2) League winner receives an additional 5000 EXP and 1000 GP
3) League Champion (of the Champion's Series) wins an additional 5000 EXP and a powerful magical item.
Solar Haven will be your moderator for this grand adventure. We're also testing out a new hack that will show league standings in real time. Look for gambling to take off in the future as well. That's everything. If you have any questions, please ask them here.
