St. Denebriel's Cathedral is a gigantic structure of gray stone and beautiful stained-glass windows located in the center of Knife's Edge. Just outside of the cathedral is a beautiful garden of exotic wildflowers and ornate fountains, a testament to how capable Salvar's aeromancers are at defying the region's harsh climate. While the Cathedral has no protective wall surrounding it, a dry moat fifty feet deep and twenty feet wide does encircle the building and its outlying gardens. At the bottom are a multitude of razor-sharp spikes. A single drawbridge that is often down is the only way to enter the Cathedral.
The areas of the Cathedral related to worship of the Ethereal Sway and matters pertaining to the legal system (Salvar's priests are also its judges) are open to the public. Anyone may walk in and be granted access to the building's many altars, halls, and court rooms. However, many areas of the Cathedral are off-limits to normal citizens and therefore quite heavily guarded. Not just anyone can walk into the areas where the Church performs some of its more frightening activities--the gathering of foreign and domestic intelligence, planning the assassinations and arrests of traitors and dissident priests, and the interrogation and detention of common criminals and enmies of the state. Even if one wanted to try to enter these secret areas, they would be hard-pressed to find an entrance. It is rumored that these dark chambers--along with the Church's prison cells and a vast network of tunnels leading all over Knife's Edge--are located underneath the Cathedral.
From the roof of the Cathedral rises a massive, spine-like column that extends far higher than any other structure in Knife's Edge. It is from this strange tower that the city's aeromancers control the weather, making it less harsh so that the citzens have an easier time of going about their daily lives. The secrets contained within this massive tower are so great that no one may enter it without a direct order from the King of Salvar himself. Fantastical research in magic and weapons is said to be done here, but this has never been confirmed.
