A Time In Union Past: Chapter one

(Closed.)

BA: Sometime on Earth (Before Althanas)

Click. Flash. Rhiannon quickly tightened her eyes shut as eight big round lights beamed down on her. Only seconds had passed and she could already feel its hot rays tingling at her bare skin. She was in what seemed to be a doctors bed of some kind, yet there was no one around. Just an empty white room. The light was far to bright to see if there were any cameras watching her.

Suddenly there was a slight crackling noise before a voice spoke out over an intercom. “Good morning, miss Orris. I believe you're wondering at this given time of why you are here. You are under the testing of the Technocratic Union to insure that you are in perfect health before further training. Do not panic, the restraints bracing you to the table are for your own safety. We need you to be awake for our first test. Doctors will be in shortly and will be using a machine to read your brain activity. Please remain cooperative and we will gladly answer your questions later. Thank you, miss Orris.”

Rhiannon's squinted eyes looked around the room as the voice from the walls spoke to her. She knew from her own basic knowledge that it was an intercom, but it seemed to be coming from.. everywhere.. There was no way of tracing where the sound was even coming from.

Memory was coming back to her as she looked at all the restraints bracing down her slender physique. Where was her clothes, her home, and her parents? Something was blank. No matter how much she tried to remember, it was impossible. It was as if her memory was just blank, erased from reality.

A loud sound projected through the room as elevator like doors opened. Four men in large white trench coats approached her with a rather large table on wheels. Rhiannon's eyes fell on them, her lower lip starting quivering in fear. Being so overwhelmed with confusion made her want to cry, and her stomach only grew to become a pain because of the stress levels that were starting to bestow her.

One of the doctors smiled at her politely as he brought up a notepad, scribbling with a pen. “Good morning, miss Orris. How are we feeling?”

“G-good.” She lied, and before she could ask any questions, the doctor proceeded.

“Now we're going to have to due a few test with you today, and we need you to help us by being understanding and cooperative. We are to take a complete and total physical of you from top to bottom. So if you can just sit still for one moment” the doctor paused as he grabbed a needle from the table while his assistant cleaned Rhiannon's arm,” we'll need to start with a blood sample.”

To the right side of Rhiannon's room, two gentlemen watched through the wall as she was tested by the doctor. Both finely dressed in business suits, the younger of the two spoke passively as he watched. “Do you think Miss Orris will met the requirements as a Field Agent?”

Hoss, the older gentlemen in his early forties, smiled and nodded. “I have no doubt in my mind, Mr. Turner. You've done well with finding this one. You must have a way with words, my dear friend. Making her join was much easier than the others.”

Mr. Turner, a finely featured man with a sharp face, nodded respectfully. “Thank you, sir.”

Turner's blue eyes fell on Rhiannon again, seeming to watch her closely as his eyes squinted slightly. Hoss turned and looked at him as he sat in a computer chair, his smile growing teeth as he took off his sunglasses to look at him directly. “I do hope you're observing the doctors and not the woman, Mathew. Something like that wouldn't be too professional, now would it?”

Mathew Turner, blinked a few times times and only glanced at the older agent before looking straight, “No, sir. Not at all.” He swallowed, “ she fascinates me.”

“You and me both, Turner. You and me both. We're going to find an answer one way or another. Maybe we'll cut out and investigate her brain.” Hoss suggested with a smirk. There was no need to look at Mr. Turner, Hoss knew the look of horror that was lit on the young man's face, “I'm kidding.”

Rhiannon shut her eyes softly as the sharp needle pressed through her vein easily as a knife in warm butter. The blood released from her arm and the sensation of being drained washed over her. It was more awkward than it was painful, and before she knew it, her binds were being released by the doctors.

The doctor fixed his large spectacles as his pen went wild in his notebook, while the other doctors in the mean time, helped Rhiannon on her feet. “Now, if you could remain still for a short time, we're going to be using that large machine there to do some scanning. So if you could hold out each arm beside you, this will go quickly for the both of us.”

Taking in a deep breath, the woman remained silent as the doctors surrounded her like a herd of hungry vampires. Instead of feasting upon her flesh, they were touching her all over, checking pulses, joints, and her body movements. This extreme physical not only was asking a lot of her, but she felt violated being touched and examined by these older gentlemen while she lacked even an undergarment to protect her purity. Finally, they placed her under the large machine, just when Rhiannon thought the process would never end.

“You're going to hear a slight humming noise, do not let it startle you Miss Orris. This test will only take a brief minute of your time.”The doctor announce, trying his best to sound encouraging, a half ass smile crossing his lips.

Was he ever going to quit writing in that stupid notepad of his? It was evident that the young bare woman was becoming very annoyed. Not only was it lit on her expressions, it was very well written on her tongue too. “By the looks of it, I have all the time in the world Doctor..”

"Unbelievable." Hoss stated, ripping his sunglasses off. His eyes scattered frantically as he pushed a few buttons on his touch screened computer.

Agent Turner's eyebrows lowered as he leaned in, looking over his boss' shoulder to see what was going on. Feeling the nerve to ask, he said "What is it, sir? What's happening?"

Hoss waved off Turner. "Its not what is happening, Turner, it is what has been happening all along. Look at her brain waves." Hoss commanded, pointing a finger to the calculations from the large machine in the other room.

Turner could feel his lips part in disbelief, a flush coming over his face. At first he was speechless, but eventually spoke slowly. "Her numbers are off the chart. Its... Phenomenal..But this can't be right. No human being could handle such brain activity without-"

"Stroking out. I know." Hoss interrupted, giving turner a look before his attention fell back onto the calculating numbers, "We seem to have ourselves a one of a kind, Turner. Thanks to you, my dear friend. Right before us is evolution, Mathew, the future. Kennedy once told us when we went to the moon that there was one step for man, and one step for mankind. Well, this is our second step. See this cup?"

"I do."

"Move it."

Turner hesitated a moment, puzzled by Hoss' testy expression painted all over him. Placing his fingers gently on the crystal glass, he slid it firmly across the table. "Sir."

Hoss crossed his arms, leaning back on his computer chair. "Alright, Mr. Turner. Now move it without the use of your body."

"But sir, that is ..physically impossible..."

"Not for her..."
