Cradled within the forest dapple, huddled in a hollow between two boulders, set a majestic white stag. Its antlers reached the tree tops, asserting its dominance over the realm of the wilderness. Bitter thunder raged overhead as storm clouds gathered, choking out the rays of a dominant sun, and the wind blew with such ferocity that it rattled the leaves on the trees. The white stag reared and snorted in defiance of the elements.
The stag knew pain and toil; he had endured it all his life. But then, so had all his kin. They had been hunted for their furs, and their meat.
