    This thread has gone on too long without a mention of Donkey Kong Country.

    I'm not sure I have a top five - at least, not in any order. The following are just the first video game songs that come to mind given the topic (leaving anime out because I have a very limited exposure to the medium and would be a poor judge given that fact).

    Gerudo Valley - LoZ Ocarina of Time (N64)
    Baba Yetu - Civilization IV (PC)
    Spark Mandrill - Mega Man X (SNES) (This game was on point with its music... hard to pick just one)
    Whole fucking soundtrack - Donkey Kong Country Returns 2 (WiiU)

    Honorable mention to Monster Hunter, which has several great themes (Ukanlos comes to mind).
