Hey everyone,
- This is a news feature we've added to the site. Every week I'm going to be posting a bit about what is currently going on in Althanas ICly and OOCly. If you have anything you want me to write about feel free to send me a PM, these news updates won't be much fun if you don't tell me what you want to hear about! Anyway, lets hop right to it.
The corone war is still going strong, with the raiders currently in the lead. Make sure to check out some of the current battles. Better yet, throw yourself right in, there are still missions available on both sides and your stories could change the future of a nation! Sound interesting? Check out the mission board found Here. Want to participate but don't know much about Corone? Visit This Page for some backstory before you jump in. Want to participate but can't find a mission that fits your character? That's fine too, just pick a side and write away, be sure to mention that the thread is to be a part of the war though, so that your points go to the right team. So who will win? What is the future of Corone? Well Althanas, you decide.
There are two threads in the Your Word forum that are a chance for you to let the staff know what you would like to see from althanas. The "Well Althanas, what do you want?" thread is a place to voice any ideas for the site. The "10 favorite Moments in Althanas History" thread is a place to tell us what features you'd like to see back. Overall, the staff is trying to make sure we understand what each and every one of you want from this site.

Thread of The Week

This is where we will put the spotlight on ongoing threads of note in Althanas, giving them a bit of attention. Our first thread of the week is Sagequeen's Escape from Anebrilith. Here's an excerpt, and be sure to keep up with it as best you can...

Article of The Week

This is where we feature one of the articles we've made for the Althanas Wiki so far. Our first article of the week deals with one of Althanas' most dominant religions. Hello once again, Althanas!
We’ve got some big news this week starting with the announcement of the vignettes. For those that don’t know, vignettes are monthly, one post short stories involving your character. The vignettes will now be hosted monthly by Jasmine, with the reward of a small amount of experience and GP. Vignettes are a great way to showcase your writing to the rest of the world of Althanas without writing a full quest so go ahead and give them a shot.
Wager Matches are fights between characters in which both writers put a set amount of their experience on the line for a chance at a big pay off. We are happy to announce that wager matches will soon be moved from it’s own featured section and straight into the citadel. Now, those who wish to add an extra incentive to their competitive writing can raise the stakes if they so wish. This is purely a voluntary thing, so for those of you who wish to continue to write battles without forfeiting your experience, please feel free to do so.
The Serenti Invitational has returned to Althanas! The Serenti is a one on one tournament in which the competitors fight it out to determine who is the best warrior on Althanas. As of this news article, registration is still open. The tournament will begin on August 30th once 32 or more members register to join. Some of Althanas biggest names have participated in this tournament on more than one occasion, and the winner gets a huge amount of experience for their efforts, so go on out there and try your hand against some of the greatest writers Althanas has to offer. Registration can be found here.
