Althanas News

Hello Again, Althanas

All this week, the big news has been about the Serenti Invitational, the renowned tournament and a who’s who of Althanas best and brightest. Just a reminder, those who have not re-submitted their profiles to comply with the standards of Althanas 3.1 will be disqualified from the tournament, so hurry up and get your profiles revamped, people!
Speaking of which, you may have notice a shift in the name of our little online community this past week. We are proud to announce that we have officially made the switch from Althanas 3.0 to Althanas 3.1! Among some of the newest features to the site is the option for ‘Tanthanas’ and ‘Bluethanas’ templates. These are sure to be a hit with the older members of our community. We have also installed a forum for these weekly news articles, making it easier for you to access the going-ons with the site. Even at the time of this article, our staff is working hard to clean up the forums a bit and make the place a little better for all of us.
Some of you may be familiar with the Boss Battles feature that we have been showcasing since the move to Althanas 3.0. In the coming weeks, we will be tweaking up that feature here and there to make it a more enjoyable experience for all those involved. Be sure to keep an eye out for the changes.
There is also a new type of battle league in the works. The Theatre of War and the Dajas Pagoda were both smashing successes back in their day, but now we wish to bring you a fresh new way to do your fighting. Currently, there is a poll running asking the community if they preferred the Dajas Pagoda (a ladder system that had big pay offs) or the Theatre of War (a league format in which the person who won the most battles was the overall winner). We are working diligently in order to give you the best version of a battle league possible, so please bear with the staff as they create something exceptional. Go here to express your opinion on this news.
At the conclusion of the Corone War, there will be a reformatted version of our training forums. Our Features staff is busy behind the scenes planning something spectacular for those new souls who enter Althanas, or even you oldbies with alts. Be sure to check back in with us closer to the end of the war.
Some of you may have been sneaking a few sneak peeks at our wiki, well we are proud to announce that next week, the Althanas Wikiis going live! You can edit a page for your character, quests, battles, or whatever else your heart desires, so long as it involves Althanas. Currently, most of the Althanas countries, as well as their histories are up, but we're always looking for talented writers willing to spend some time to improve our knowledge!
Finally, this is just a reminder that the Vignettes have returned, hosted by Jasmine every month. The current vignette is drawing to a close, but it is still not too late to get your entry in. Closing of this month’s vignette ends at Midnight Alaska Time on August 31st, so you need to hurry!
That’s it for this week, Althanas, and we’ll be back with some more exciting developments next week. See you then!

Thread of The Week

This is where we will put the spotlight on ongoing threads of note in Althanas, giving them a bit of attention. This weeks featured thread comes from two veterans of Althanas, Elrundir and Silence Sei. It's titled A Legacy of Blood. Here's an excerpt, and be sure to keep up with it as best you can...

"The Red Forest. For milennia, it had served as a powerful symbol for the elven people. Cursed in an age long forgotten to all but the elves themselves, even they found it difficult to remember a time when those woods, once known simply as the Great Forest, were safe for man and elf to travel. For the shorter-lived races of the world, the Forgotten were just that—well beyond the boundaries of memory, little more than fairy tales used to frighten naughty children. But the elves would always have a reminder of their presence in the forest that spanned the southern reaches of their continent, now turned blood-red by the Red Witch Podë...

Article of The Week

This is where we feature one of the articles we've made for the Althanas Wiki so far. This week's featured article focuses on Akashima

"Akashima is a small country nestled in the northeastern area of the Corone island. Once a small village of barbarians when the Raiaeran explorers first found them, the Demon War left them torn from their ancient roots. However, from the ashes of the fallen a new nation emerged to reclaim the land of their ancestors, the new generations of warriors and artisan reviving their forefathers' way of life. This small nation is unique in a sense that it is an island within an island - ruling independently of the Coronian Government while still remaining in good terms with them since reconnecting with the outside world...

Member Spotlight

As more and more members make their wiki pages, we'll begin to feature some of them, helping members get to know one another. We invite everyone to make their own pages talking about their characters, their musings, and their ideas. As soon as we have someone with sufficient content, we'll spotlight them here.

Judge's Choice Spotlight

The Judge's Choice forum is a great source of inspiration. Members should know what others before them have achieved. This week's Judge's Choice Spotlight comes from Tshael and Shadar, and is titled The Sacrifice Here's an excerpt...

"The night was deep in Radasanth when the figure's footsteps rang down the street. Each beat on the steps of the Palace of Pain was an echo of the empty heart that somehow still managed to feebly beat within. The slump of the figure's shoulders belied the pain and exhaustion that had washed over her since the desperate claw out of Concordia. She'd been fed on the milk of despair from the moment she'd unleashed the old Concordian goddess and been forced to work the spell that left her son little more than a cocoon for his fading soul. Now the fuel that had caused her to wrap up her child's body in the tattered remains of her shirt and somehow stumble through the darkness of the forest onto the cobbled evening streets of the capitol city was starting to wear thin...
